Jaipur Hosts Historic 78th Army Day Parade with 40 Envoys, First Outside Cantonment
Jaipur Hosts 78th Army Day Parade with 40 Envoys

In a landmark event for Rajasthan's capital, Jaipur is set to host the prestigious 78th Army Day Parade on January 15. This year's celebrations mark a historic first, as the parade will be conducted outside a traditional military cantonment and in a public area, mirroring the format of the grand Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.

A Global Gathering and Unprecedented Public Access

The significance of the occasion is underscored by the attendance of ambassadors and diplomats from 40 countries. An official highlighted that this move to a public venue in Jaipur will allow the people of Jaipur and the wider population of Rajasthan to witness the prowess of the Indian Army up close, an opportunity traditionally limited to cantonment areas. The successful organization of an event of this scale is attributed to the strong support and coordination provided by the civil administration.

A Spectacular Display of Military Prowess

The parade promises to be a breathtaking showcase of heritage and modern warfare capabilities. Over 30 different army units and displays will take part, featuring:

  • Infantry Marching Contingents and the formidable Bhairav Battalions.
  • The NCC Girls Contingent and the majestic Horsed Cavalry unit.
  • An array of modern weaponry including drones, Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs), tanks, and advanced Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs).
  • The specialized skills of the Army's canine warriors.

The skies above Jaipur will come alive with a flypast by Army Aviation helicopters and Indian Air Force fighter jets. Adding to the public spectacle will be thrilling paramotor and motorcycle displays, alongside cultural performances, traditional martial arts, dances, and military bands from both the Indian Army and the Nepal Army.

Pre-Parade Events: Honouring Valour and Public Engagement

The build-up to the main parade includes two significant events. On Thursday, January 11, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma will inaugurate a four-day 'Know Your Army' exhibition at the Shri Bhawani Niketan Campus in Jaipur. This interactive exhibition is designed to foster a deeper connection between citizens and the armed forces.

Following this, on Friday, January 12, the Sapta Shakti Command Investiture Ceremony will be held at the Jaipur Military Station. Presided over by Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander of the Sapta Shakti Command, the ceremony will honour and acknowledge the gallant and distinguished service of officers, junior commissioned officers, and soldiers of the command.

The 78th Army Day celebrations in Jaipur represent a bold step towards greater public engagement with the nation's defenders, set against the vibrant backdrop of Rajasthan's cultural heritage.
