The Madhya Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has successfully busted an illegal cough syrup manufacturing unit operating in the state capital Bhopal. In a major crackdown, the STF team raided a hidden facility and seized a large quantity of counterfeit cough syrup, along with raw materials and packaging equipment used in the illegal operation. Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
Details of the Raid
The operation was conducted based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the illicit manufacturing of cough syrup. The STF team raided a premises in the outskirts of Bhopal, where they found an active manufacturing unit producing fake cough syrup. The unit was operating without any license or approval from the drug control authorities. The seized items include thousands of bottles of counterfeit cough syrup, empty bottles, labels, and raw chemicals used for making the syrup.
Arrests and Legal Action
Seven individuals, including the mastermind behind the illegal operation, have been arrested. They are being questioned to uncover the entire network and identify other possible locations involved in the illegal trade. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and other applicable laws. The STF is also investigating the supply chain to determine how the fake syrup was being distributed in the market.

The illegal cough syrup poses serious health risks to consumers, as it may contain harmful or substandard ingredients. The STF has warned the public to be cautious and only purchase medicines from authorized pharmacies. The authorities are also checking if any of the seized products had already reached the market.
