President Droupadi Murmu Launches ₹158 Crore Development Projects in Rourkela
In a significant move highlighting the combined focus of the Central and Odisha state governments on enhancing urban infrastructure, preserving tribal heritage, and advancing technology-driven governance, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated four major projects in Rourkela on Tuesday. The collective investment for these initiatives amounts to an impressive ₹158 crore, marking a substantial boost to the region's development landscape.
Four Key Projects Unveiled to Public
During a public function held in Rourkela, President Murmu officially inaugurated the state-of-the-art Planetarium and Science Centre alongside the Nirmal Munda Parivesh Path. These facilities are designed to promote scientific awareness and environmental conservation among citizens.
Subsequently, the President unveiled two additional landmark projects: the Tribal Museum and the Integrated Command and Control Centre. The Tribal Museum is specifically aimed at preserving and showcasing the rich indigenous heritage of the region, while the Integrated Command and Control Centre is set to strengthen civic administration through modern technological solutions.
Murmu Praises Sundargarh's Natural Beauty and Cultural Richness
Addressing the gathered audience, President Murmu eloquently described the natural splendor and cultural wealth of Sundargarh district. She highlighted its dense forests, majestic mountains, cascading waterfalls, and serene rivers, noting that these natural features are complemented by a vibrant tapestry of folk culture and artistic traditions that have profoundly enriched Odisha's overall cultural landscape.
Murmu also characterized Sundargarh as a land of valour and sports enthusiasts, acknowledging the district's contributions to both national pride and athletic excellence. She emphasized Rourkela's role as a cosmopolitan city, where people from diverse parts of India reside for livelihood and employment opportunities, further cementing its status as a hub of cultural exchange and economic activity.
Emphasis on Inclusive Growth and Tribal Welfare
President Murmu underscored the critical importance of inclusive growth, stating that national development is achievable only through the progress of every segment of society. With this objective in mind, she detailed how both the Central and state governments are implementing a wide array of welfare schemes specifically tailored for tribal communities.
These efforts are accelerating development in tribal-dominated districts like Sundargarh and prioritizing the economic empowerment of indigenous populations. Murmu called for active public participation in nation-building, urging citizens to support marginalized groups and work collectively toward societal advancement. She stressed that becoming good human beings and ensuring collective progress are essential components of a thriving democracy.
Vision for Viksit Bharat and Viksit Odisha
Looking ahead, President Murmu referenced India's ambitious goal of becoming Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047 and Odisha's milestone of completing 100 years of statehood in 2036. She asserted that building a Viksit Odisha and a Viksit Bharat will necessitate comprehensive, all-round development and widespread participation across all societal strata.
The collective efforts of farmers, laborers, tribal communities, marginalized sections, intellectuals, youth, students, and both urban and rural citizens will be crucial in realizing these visionary goals.
