The guided-missile corvettes INS Khanjar and INS Kora will be accessible to visitors at Kidderpore Dock, offering a rare glimpse into India's naval capabilities.

Warship Viewing Details and Schedule

The public viewing will take place at Kidderpore Dock Berth 11 (Gate No. 3) over three days. Visitors must carry Indian photo IDs for entry. The timing schedule varies across days to accommodate different visitor preferences.

On Friday, the warships will be open from 9 am to 2.30 pm, while during the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, visiting hours extend from 11 am to 5 pm. This extended weekend timing allows more people to experience this unique opportunity.

Capabilities of the Naval Vessels

Both INS Khanjar and INS Kora represent the Indian Navy's significant firepower. These impressive 90-metre-plus warships are equipped with advanced weapon systems capable of executing precise surface-to-surface and surface-to-air strikes.

The vessels also have helicopter operation capabilities, able to deploy Chetak or Dhruv helicopters for various missions. This makes them versatile assets in the Indian Navy's fleet, capable of handling multiple combat scenarios.

Historical Significance and Affiliations

Each warship carries unique historical and regimental significance. INS Khanjar maintains a special affiliation with the Army's Kumaon and Naga Regiments, highlighting the inter-service cooperation within India's defense forces.

INS Kora derives its name from the traditional Nepali sword wielded by Gurkha warriors, paying tribute to the legendary bravery and combat skills of the Gurkha regiments that have served with distinction in the Indian Armed Forces.

This public display represents an exceptional opportunity for students and civilians alike to step aboard operational warships and gain firsthand understanding of naval operations and India's maritime defense capabilities.
