Israel Receives 'Crazy Love' from India, Says PM Netanyahu
Netanyahu Says Israel Gets 'Crazy Love' from India

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again spotlighted the warm ties between India and Israel early Friday, stating that Israel receives "crazy love" from India at a time when, according to him, much of the world seeks to "delegitimise" the Jewish state.

Netanyahu Praises India's Support

Addressing an event, Netanyahu said, "We have a unique relationship with a huge power called India. In India, there's support for Israel." He added, "We face delegitimisation in much of the world - but not in India."

"In India, there is an absolutely crazy love for Israel, truly crazy. I think I have more followers from India than from anywhere else," Netanyahu remarked.

Personal Anecdote from Modi's Visit

Earlier, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel in February, Netanyahu shared a personal anecdote involving his wife Sara and an Indian restaurant in Tel Aviv. Addressing a joint press conference with PM Modi, Netanyahu said: "I have to say at the end of this visit that I owe India — I don't know if I told you this, Narendra — but I owe India a great personal debt. You see, when I met Sara for the first time, I think our first or second date was in an Indian restaurant in Tel Aviv."

During that February visit, PM Modi was also conferred with the highest parliamentary honour in Israel, known as the "Speaker of the Knesset Medal." His recent remarks came months after that visit, during which the two leaders appeared to share warm camaraderie.
