Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi held bilateral talks at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Thursday, marking another milestone in the special partnership between the two nations. The discussions were centered on trust and shared values, as described by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Ceremonial Welcome and High-Level Delegation
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Takaichi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval were present alongside other officials during the talks. PM Modi introduced his cabinet colleagues and dignitaries to the Japanese leader during the reception.
Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, posted on X: "Further strengthening our special partnership. PM Sanae Takaichi of Japan was accorded a ceremonial reception at the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. A partnership for the future, built on trust and rooted in shared values."
Japan Expresses Excitement Ahead of Summit
Japan's Cabinet Public Relations Officer expressed gratitude on X, stating: "Our heartfelt thanks for your warm welcome. We are very much excited to be visiting India!" Another post noted that the summit meeting between the two leaders would follow the ceremonial welcome.
Takaichi is on a three-day official visit to India from July 1 to 3 at the invitation of PM Modi. During the visit, she will participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, which aims to review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation and address regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Focus on Strategic and Economic Cooperation
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the summit will provide an opportunity for both leaders to strengthen cooperation across strategic, economic, technological, and security domains. The visit is expected to boost investment and innovation, enhance resilient supply chains in critical sectors such as semiconductors and critical minerals, and deepen economic ties.
The talks underscored the commitment to a partnership for the future, rooted in trust and shared democratic values, as both nations look to expand collaboration in emerging technologies and regional security.
