The historic Rajput Regimental Centre recently concluded its 33rd Biennial Conference, a significant gathering held in Chandigarh from December 5 to December 7. The event served as a crucial platform for discussing pivotal military and regimental affairs, bringing together the regiment's top leadership.
A Gathering of Leadership and Legacy
The conference witnessed the participation of a distinguished assembly of officers. The proceedings were graced by Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, who also attended as the outgoing Colonel of the Rajput Regiment. He was joined by a host of senior serving and retired officers, including battalion Commanding Officers and Subedar Majors, underscoring the event's importance for the regiment's past, present, and future.
Homage to the Fallen and a Change of Guard
The final day of the conference, December 7, began on a solemn note with a wreath-laying ceremony at the iconic Cariappa War Memorial. Senior officers paid their respects to the regiment's martyrs, honoring their supreme sacrifice and reinforcing the enduring values of patriotism and pride that form the bedrock of the Rajput Regiment.
Following this tribute, a special Sainik Sammelan became the stage for a historic transition. Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar formally handed over the baton of Colonel of the Rajput Regiment to Lt Gen Harjeet Singh Sahi, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM. Lt Gen Sahi, who is the Commandant of the Army War College in Mhow, assumed the role as the 19th Colonel of the Regiment. In his address, the newly appointed Colonel honored his predecessor's four years of distinguished service, a tenure marked by significant achievements and milestones for the regiment.
Upholding the Motto: Sarvatra Vijay
Both the outgoing and incoming Colonels addressed the ranks, delivering a powerful and unified message. They urged all personnel to continue upholding the regiment's glorious traditions with unwavering dedication and valour. Emphasizing the regiment's timeless motto, 'Sarvatra Vijay' (Victory Everywhere), the leaders reaffirmed the Rajput Regiment's steadfast commitment to the nation and the Indian Army. The conference concluded with a reinforced resolve to maintain the highest standards of service and honor.
