Pune: RSS's publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar on Wednesday clarified that organisation chief Mohan Bhagwat's recent remarks about keeping doors open for dialogue with Pakistan referred to people-to-people interactions, not political diplomacy.
Ambekar's Clarification on Bhagwat's Statement
Speaking at an event organised by the Pune Union of Working Journalists, Ambekar said, "The statement by the RSS chief is not related to political diplomacy. Dialogues between India and Pakistan so far have been between two governments, armies, and other agencies. Since all these dialogues failed, we have lost hope."
He added that Bhagwat emphasised the need for citizens of both countries to connect through medical tourism and trade, reviving good memories. Bhagwat had recently advocated dialogue between India and Pakistan, stating that Indians do not have the mentality of dictators, which drew reactions from the opposition.
RSS's Stance on Government Dialogue
Ambekar further explained, "The Indian government having a dialogue with Pakistan is considered hard diplomacy. These dialogues include many sensitive issues. Nobody needs to take a public stand on them. RSS will directly share its opinion with the government."
Response to Karnataka Government's Query
On the Karnataka government's letter seeking the legal status of RSS, Ambekar said, "Some people are creating controversies for political benefits. RSS is not interested in them. We are a recognised organisation working for social welfare for 100 years. We continue to work on the ground but no one has asked for our registration."
