The race for the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is heating up as the nomination process gains momentum. A total of 24 candidates have officially thrown their hats into the ring within the first four days of the filing window opening for the upcoming civic elections.

Nomination Surge in Key Wards

On the latest filing day, a significant batch of 20 candidates submitted their nomination papers from various electoral wards across the city. This activity has brought the cumulative total to 24 aspirants since the process began. The elections for the civic body are scheduled to be held on January 15.

Notable Candidates and Ward Details

Among those who have filed papers is Sanskriti Shejval, who is contesting from ward number 14 (A) on a Shiv Sena (UBT) ticket. Interestingly, Shejval is yet to receive the mandatory A and B forms from her party. This particular ward is reserved for a candidate from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.

In ward number 29 (B), which falls under the Cidco division of the municipal corporation, two independent candidates have entered the fray. Yogita Hire and Yamuna Ghuge have both filed their nominations as independents, setting the stage for a competitive contest.

Meanwhile, ward number 21 (B) has seen considerable interest, with four candidates submitting their nomination papers. This ward is reserved for candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.

Critical Election Timeline

The electoral process is now moving into a crucial phase. The last date for filing nominations is December 30. Following this, the scrutiny of all submitted papers will be conducted on December 31 to verify their validity.

Candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw their names if they choose, with the deadline for withdrawal set for January 2. The election machinery will then finalize the list, and the final list of contesting candidates will be officially published on January 3.

With these key dates fast approaching, political activity in Nashik is expected to intensify as parties finalize their strategies and candidates ramp up their campaigns for control of the municipal corporation.
