Peaceful Elections Conclude in Bhagalpur and Banka
Voting in Bhagalpur and neighboring Banka district proceeded peacefully on Monday, with both constituencies demonstrating strong democratic participation throughout the day. The electoral process remained largely undisturbed, concluding successfully by 5 PM with impressive voter engagement figures.
Voter Turnout Statistics Reveal Strong Participation
Bhagalpur district recorded a substantial 66.03% polling percentage, while Banka district witnessed an even higher participation rate of 68.91%. Within Bhagalpur district, Kahalgaon emerged as the frontrunner with the highest polling percentage at 71.20%, closely followed by Pirpainty at 70.12% and Nathnagar at 68.44%.
Other assembly constituencies within Bhagalpur showed equally robust numbers: Gopalpur recorded 67.83%, Sultanganj reached 64.77%, Bihpur achieved 64.65%, and Bhagalpur itself registered 55.17% voter turnout. Election Commission officials indicated that the final polling percentages are expected to increase slightly once all votes are officially tallied later in the evening.
Political Leaders Express Confidence in NDA Victory
Former BJP MP and national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain, after casting his vote alongside his wife, expressed strong confidence in the NDA's performance. "The NDA is going to sweep the polls and we will win all seven assembly constituencies," Hussain stated emphatically.
JD(U) MP from Bhagalpur, Ajay Kumar Mandal, echoed similar sentiments, attributing the expected victory to the enduring popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. "The charisma of PM Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar remains intact among voters," Mandal noted, adding that people have voted for the continuation of 'sushashan' (good governance) under the NDA government.
Former Union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, who cast his vote at Durgacharan School in Bhagalpur's Adampur locality, predicted a resounding victory for the NDA in Bihar. In a colorful analogy, Choubey remarked, "People of Bihar would celebrate Diwali again on November 14 when the poll results are declared," indicating his confidence in the alliance's performance.
Enhanced Security Measures Yield Results
The district administration implemented stringent security protocols throughout the voting process. Police authorities seized ₹6.6 lakh in cash from a vehicle during routine checking near Dogachhi bypass under Nathnagar police station jurisdiction.
A police source confirmed that the seizure occurred during intensified patrolling operations conducted with assistance from flying squad teams. The enhanced security measures contributed significantly to maintaining law and order during the electoral process, ensuring smooth and fair voting across both districts.
The successful conduct of elections in Bhagalpur and Banka districts reflects the effective coordination between election officials, security forces, and the general public, demonstrating Bihar's commitment to democratic processes.
