In a significant move ahead of the crucial civic polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday laid out a comprehensive and ambitious blueprint for the development of Ulhasnagar. The party's detailed manifesto for the upcoming Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation elections was jointly released by BJP MLA Kumar Ailani, district president Rajesh Vadhrya, and election in-charge Pradeep Ramchandani.
A Vision for a Modern Trading Hub
Recognising Ulhasnagar's pivotal role as a major commercial centre that draws shoppers from across the region, the BJP has placed special emphasis on resolving chronic traffic issues and enhancing facilities for the business community and visitors. To tackle the persistent problem of parking and congestion, the manifesto pledges the construction of an underground parking facility at Gol Maidan. Complementing this, the party plans to introduce battery-operated vehicles to ferry shoppers conveniently from parking zones to market areas.
Addressing security concerns, the BJP has committed to installing CCTV cameras across the city to ensure the safety of traders and prevent harassment by anti-social elements. Furthermore, a special coordination committee will be established to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the trading community and the municipal corporation.
Major Infrastructure and Connectivity Overhaul
On the infrastructure front, the BJP has reiterated its promise to concretise all city roads and improve internal connectivity. One of the most significant environmental promises is the shifting of the dumping ground outside city limits to address serious health and environmental concerns.
The party has announced a series of major road projects designed to decongest the city. These include a key elevated road project on the Kalyan–Ambernath road, stretching from Shanti Nagar to the Sai Baba Temple. To ensure smooth traffic flow while protecting existing residences, the BJP has promised the development of a ring road connecting Ulhasnagar from Camp Number 1 to Camp Number 5 without demolishing any residential houses.
Another critical promise is to widen the Shahad flyover into a four-lane structure to ease bottlenecks and cater to growing traffic volume. To boost regional connectivity and promote public transport, the manifesto includes plans to connect Ulhasnagar with Metro Line 14 and Metro Line 5.
Housing, Redevelopment, and Holistic Development
Focusing on social welfare and urban renewal, the BJP has committed to providing homes to slum residents under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The party also vows to undertake large-scale redevelopment of illegal and dilapidated buildings across the city.
The manifesto outlines several other promises aimed at holistic development. These include modernising waste management under the ‘Waste to Wealth' concept, launching women empowerment initiatives, and upgrading education and healthcare facilities. The party has also assured citizens of transparent and effective governance.
BJP leaders stated that their manifesto reflects a clear and actionable vision to transform Ulhasnagar into a modern, safe, and economically vibrant city. They assured the electorate that all commitments would be implemented effectively if the party is voted to power in the municipal corporation.
