The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland has officially released the draft photo electoral roll for the 28 Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency. This seat, located in Mokokchung district, is preparing for an upcoming by-election.
Key Dates for the Electoral Process
The notification from the CEO's office outlines a clear timeline for the revision process. The period for filing claims and objections is set to begin on January 3 and will conclude on January 24. These submissions will be processed, with disposal scheduled for February 2. The final and conclusive electoral roll will be published on February 14.
Constituency Details and Vacancy
According to the published draft roll, the Koridang constituency has a total of 21,586 registered electors. This includes 10,956 male voters and 10,630 female voters. The by-election was necessitated following the demise of the sitting MLA, Imkong L Imchen, last year, which left the seat vacant.
How to File Claims and Objections
The electoral authorities have provided multiple channels for citizens to participate in the roll revision. Electors or applicants can file claims and objections using the requisite Forms 6, 7, or 8. These can be submitted to the concerned Booth Level Officer (BLO), the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, or the Electoral Registration Officer.
For convenience, the forms are available for download on the official websites of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Nagaland CEO. Furthermore, applications can also be filed or submitted online through these portals, facilitating a smoother process for voters.
The constituency has 30 notified polling stations. To ensure transparency, the Electoral Registration Officer will share the list of claims and objections with recognized political parties on a weekly basis throughout the revision period.
