Election Official Suspended for Dereliction of Duty
The Jaipur district election office took strict action on Monday by suspending a supervisor in the Adarsh Nagar constituency for showing negligence in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll. This decisive move highlights the administration's zero-tolerance approach toward lapses in the crucial electoral process.
Immediate Suspension Following Investigation
Mukesh Kumar Mehra, who served as a supervisor, was suspended with immediate effect following confirmed reports of serious negligence. The Jaipur District Election Office issued an official press release confirming the disciplinary action against Mehra, who holds the position of additional administrative officer in the social justice and empowerment department.
Shayama Rathore, the electoral registration officer for Adarsh Nagar, expressed strong disapproval of Mehra's conduct. "Mehra has shown gross negligence and indifference in carrying out a task of national importance, which has disrupted the Special Intensive Revision process," stated Rathore. "This left us with no choice but to suspend him."
Previous Actions and Current Assignment
This incident marks a continuing pattern of strict enforcement by the Jaipur election authorities. Earlier, the district election office had suspended a booth level officer and initiated disciplinary proceedings against three additional BLOs and another supervisor engaged in the Special Intensive Revision work.
During his suspension period, Mehra will report to the assistant electoral registration officer of Adarsh Nagar until further orders. The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls is a critical exercise undertaken to ensure the accuracy and completeness of voter lists ahead of upcoming elections.
The election commission has been emphasizing the importance of error-free electoral rolls to maintain the integrity of the democratic process. Such suspensions serve as a strong message to all officials involved in election-related duties about the seriousness with which the administration views their responsibilities.
