NDA's Bihar Victory: JD(U) Calls Modi-Nitish 'Dream Combination'
JD(U) Hails Modi-Nitish as Bihar's Dream Team After NDA Win

NDA's Resounding Victory in Bihar Elections

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has secured a landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, prompting key allies to express strong support for the continuation of the current leadership structure. Following the decisive win, JD(U) national working president Sanjay Jha has described the combination of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister and Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister as Bihar's "dream team."

Alliance Unity and Leadership Endorsement

In an exclusive interview with The Indian Express on Saturday, November 16, 2025, Sanjay Jha emphasized that there is no confusion within the NDA regarding the chief minister position. He stated that the double-engine government concept significantly contributed to their electoral success, with people recognizing it as Bihar's moment to shine.

Jha highlighted the substantial allocations for Bihar in both the 2024 and 2025 Union Budgets, noting that Prime Minister Modi visited Bihar almost every month over the past couple of years to launch or announce various development projects. This consistent engagement played a crucial role in securing the massive mandate.

Chirag Paswan's Support for Nitish Kumar

Union Minister Chirag Paswan, whose party LJP (RV) won an impressive 19 out of 28 seats it contested as part of the NDA, also voiced his personal support for Nitish Kumar continuing as chief minister. Speaking at a press conference in Patna, Paswan stated that while the final decision rests with the legislators, he personally believes Nitish should continue leading the government.

Paswan accused the opposition of creating a false narrative about his relationship with Nitish Kumar, emphasizing that their alliance remains strong. He revealed that his party representatives met with the Chief Minister to congratulate him on the NDA's performance and expressed their intention to join the government, unlike their previous stance of supporting from outside.

Credibility and Legacy Factors

Sanjay Jha attributed the decisive mandate to Nitish Kumar's two decades of governance, progress, and safety initiatives in Bihar. He emphasized that when Kumar made promises during the campaign, people believed in their delivery based on his proven track record.

The JD(U) leader also praised Kumar for not promoting family politics, unlike other socialist parties that became dynastic. He credited the party's formation in 1994 as a response to RJD's misrule and acknowledged the hard work of party workers in achieving this victory.

Jha specifically recognized Chirag Paswan's crucial role in the NDA's success, stating that crossing the 200-seat mark would not have been possible without the contribution of all alliance partners. This marks a significant turnaround from the 2020 elections when the undivided LJP contested independently and was blamed for damaging JD(U)'s prospects.
