Kanpur Electoral Roll Public Reading on Jan 18

Kanpur's District Election Officer, Jitendra Pratap Singh, made an important announcement on Saturday. He confirmed that a public reading of the draft electoral roll will take place across the district. This event is scheduled for January 18, which falls on a Sunday.

Extensive Booth Coverage for Transparency

The reading will occur at all 3,770 booths in Kanpur district. Singh emphasized that every booth level officer will be present at their assigned location. Their presence is required from 11 am until 4 pm on that day.

Detailed Public Disclosure of Voter Lists

During the reading session, officials will publicly announce several key documents. They will read out the draft voter list that was published on January 6. Additionally, they will disclose entries concerning voters marked in the unavailable category during the counting period.

The list will also include names of absent voters, transferred voters, deceased voters, and duplicate voters. This comprehensive disclosure aims to ensure complete transparency in the electoral process.

Special Intensive Revision Period Underway

Singh explained that the district is currently in a special intensive revision period. During this time, the election office is accepting applications from eligible citizens. These applications cover new voter registration, name deletion, and entry amendments.

Eligibility and Application Procedures

Citizens who meet specific criteria can submit applications. Those who will turn 18 years old by January 1, 2026, are eligible to apply. People whose names are not yet registered in the voter list can also submit applications.

For new registrations, applicants must use Form-6. Form-7 is designated for name deletion requests. Form-8 serves for changes related to name, age, gender, photo, address, or duplicate voter identity card amendments.

Non-Resident Indian voters have a separate form available. They should use Form 6A for their registration needs. All these forms will be accessible through the respective Booth Level Officers.

Application Submission Deadline and Methods

The district election officer clarified the submission timeline. All eligible applicants can submit their applications until February 6. They have multiple submission options available.

Applicants can choose between online and offline modes. They can submit directly to the Electoral Registration Officer's office. Alternatively, they can submit through the concerned Booth Level Officer.

Public Access to Application Records

Singh provided details about viewing application records. The lists of received applications will be accessible through specific forms. These include Form-9, Form-10, Form-11, Form-11A, and Form-11B.

Citizens can view these records on the official website. The District Election Officer's portal for Kanpur Nagar hosts this information. The website address is kanpur Nagar.nic.in/deo-portal/.

This initiative represents a significant effort to ensure voter list accuracy. The public reading and extended application period demonstrate commitment to inclusive electoral participation.
