Kolkata Meeting to Review West Bengal Poll Preparedness

With just days remaining for the April 29 second phase of the West Bengal assembly elections, authorities will convene a high-level coordination meeting in Kolkata on Sunday to assess poll preparedness across key districts.

The meeting, to be held at Dhana Dhanya Auditorium, will bring together senior police officials, election authorities, and commanders of central forces overseeing Kolkata Uttar, Kolkata Dakshin, and South 24 Parganas.

"The meeting has been convened to assess the overall preparedness in the election districts under Kolkata and ensure smooth coordination among all agencies involved in the polling process," an official told PTI.

Officials said discussions will center on deployment of forces, vulnerability mapping, coordination between civil and police administration, and final readiness of polling personnel. Participants will include the Kolkata Police Commissioner, district election officers, Election Commission observers, CAPF commanders, and returning officers.

The review gains importance after the first phase on April 23 recorded over 93 percent voter turnout across 152 constituencies in 16 districts. Similar meetings have been held across the state to ensure smooth, free, and fair polling in the two-phase elections.
