Indian Diaspora Excited for PM Modi's Historic Visit to Slovakia
Members of the Indian diaspora in Slovakia have expressed enthusiasm ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit, calling it a landmark moment that will enhance India-Slovakia relations. The visit, scheduled from June 14 to 16, marks the first-ever trip by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993.
First Visit Since Independence
Vinay, a member of the diaspora, highlighted the significance of this visit, noting that it is the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia. He described it as a crucial step for both nations, especially given the growing Indian community in Slovakia in recent years.
Opportunity for Medical Research Cooperation
Sachin Gulati, a cancer research scientist at the Cancer Research Institute, shared his excitement about the visit. He emphasized the potential for boosting bilateral cooperation in medical research. According to Gulati, while Slovakia has been involved in several EU and national projects, India-Slovakia collaborative projects in medical research are yet to begin. He expressed optimism that PM Modi's visit would pave the way for such initiatives.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
PM Modi is visiting Slovakia at the invitation of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. During the visit, he will hold talks with Prime Minister Fico to explore new avenues of cooperation and will also meet President Pellegrini. The visit aims to reaffirm India's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in sectors such as trade, investment, automobile manufacturing, and railway manufacturing.
