Trichy: A centralised special centre for sorting and distribution of postal ballots has been set up at Kalaiarangam auditorium near Trichy Central bus stand. Representatives of district election officers from all 38 districts assembled at the facility on Tuesday to collect polled postal ballots.
Officials from all districts had earlier visited the centre on April 2 when Form-12 documents and unpolled postal ballots were handed over to district coordinators in the presence of representatives of recognised political parties. Subsequently, polled ballots were sorted and distributed on April 20. The next phase of sorting ballots received from election duty personnel commenced at 9.30 am on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in Karur, the training session for officials engaged in vote counting was held at the district collectorate. Collector K Ravikumar instructed officials to carry out their duties with integrity and diligence. Counting is scheduled for May 4 at M Kumarasamy college of engineering in Thalavapalayam. A total of 224 officials, including supervisors, assistants and micro observers, have been deployed for the process.
