Special Camps Organised at 1,926 Polling Booths
The district administration of Jalandhar organised special camps at 1,926 polling booths across the city on Saturday to accelerate the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The initiative aimed to expedite the collection and digitisation of enumeration forms, ensuring a more accurate and updated voter list.
Encouraging Response from Voters
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Varjeet Walia reported that the camps received an encouraging response. Voters visited their designated polling stations to fill and submit enumeration forms and verify their electoral details. Booth-level officers (BLOs) were present at all polling stations from 8 am to 3 pm to assist voters throughout the process.
Focus on Slower Booths
Walia noted that special attention was given to polling booths where the submission of forms and digitisation work had been comparatively slow. Additional efforts were made to improve the pace of the exercise at these locations.
Awareness Campaigns and Political Party Involvement
The administration carried out extensive awareness campaigns through various communication channels to encourage greater public participation. Recognised political parties were also informed so that their booth-level agents (BLAs) could motivate voters to take part in the revision process.
Appeal to Eligible Voters
Urging eligible voters to cooperate with the election machinery, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to those who had not yet submitted their enumeration forms to do so at the earliest. He emphasised that this would ensure no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls.
