The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially released the final electoral roll for the central region of Tamil Nadu, following the completion of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. This comprehensive update has resulted in a significant increase of 3.2 lakh voters across the nine districts that comprise this key electoral zone.
Substantial Growth in Voter Numbers Across the Region
According to the newly published data, the central region now boasts a total of 95.3 lakh registered voters. This represents a notable expansion of the electorate, reflecting both demographic changes and successful enrollment drives conducted by election authorities.
Trichy district has distinguished itself by adding the highest number of new voters, with an impressive increase of 89,123 individuals. Following closely behind, Thanjavur district recorded an addition of 59,387 voters, further contributing to the region's overall growth.

The final electoral roll was formally published on Monday at the Trichy district collectorate by District Collector V Saravanan. This important event took place in the presence of representatives from recognized political parties, ensuring transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
"Trichy district added around 34,000 first-time voters in the final roll," Collector Saravanan revealed to media representatives. "Besides, there was an instance where even an 85-year-old voter was enrolled, demonstrating our commitment to inclusive voter registration."
Assembly Segment Analysis and Infrastructure Details
Within Trichy district, the nine assembly segments show varying voter distributions. Srirangam assembly segment leads with the maximum number of voters at 2,83,862, while Thuraiyur has the lowest count at 2,09,011 voters.
Notably, both Trichy West and Trichy East segments within the corporation limits have experienced substantial increases in voter numbers compared to the draft roll that was released on December 19, 2025.
The electoral infrastructure remains robust, with 2,785 polling booths established throughout Trichy district. This number remains unchanged from the draft roll, indicating that existing facilities are adequately prepared to accommodate the expanded electorate.
