Trichy Voter Roll Correction: Special Camps on Dec 27-28 & Jan 3-4 Announced
Trichy Voter Roll Camps: Fix Your Details by Jan 1

The Trichy district administration, responding to public concerns over voter list discrepancies, has announced a series of special camps to allow citizens to verify and correct their electoral details. This initiative follows an intensive revision process that led to the unintended deletion of many eligible voters from the rolls.

Four-Day Camp Schedule for Voter Verification

District Election Officer and Collector V Saravanan has confirmed that special voter facilitation camps will be operational across all polling stations in the district on two weekends: December 27 and 28, 2024, and January 3 and 4, 2025. These camps will function from 10 am to 5 pm, providing a convenient window for working professionals and families.

The primary goal is to ensure an accurate electoral roll for all nine assembly constituencies in Trichy district before the crucial qualifying date of January 1, 2026, set by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The camps are a direct response to complaints received after the Special Intensive Revision exercise, which began on November 4, resulted in a significant number of names being removed.

Services Offered and Required Documents

At these camps, voters can undertake a range of actions to ensure their enrolment is correct. The services available include:

  • New voter registrations
  • Deletion of names (for deceased or relocated individuals)
  • Correction of details like name, age, or photo
  • Change of address within or across constituencies
  • Linking of Aadhaar with voter ID

To process these requests, citizens need to submit the relevant forms along with supporting documents. The key forms are:

  • Form 6: For new voter registration.
  • Form 6A: For enrolment of overseas Indian voters.
  • Form 6B: For linking Aadhaar number with electoral roll data.
  • Form 7: For objection to inclusion or seeking deletion of a name.
  • Form 8: For correction of entry or transposition within a roll.

Acceptable supporting documents include Aadhaar card, birth certificate, passport, ration card, or driving licence. Overseas Indian voters must use Form 6A and provide relevant passport and visa details for verification.

Online Option and Collector's Appeal

For those who cannot visit the physical camps, the ECI's online portal voters.eci.gov.in remains active for submitting all applications. This digital option provides flexibility and ensures wider participation in the revision process.

Collector V Saravanan has made a strong appeal for public participation, urging every eligible voter in Trichy to utilize this final opportunity. "We encourage all voters to visit their designated polling stations during these special camps to check their enrolment status," he stated. "Ensuring your name is correctly on the roll is fundamental to exercising your democratic right in future elections."

This corrective drive underscores the administration's commitment to creating a clean and comprehensive electoral roll, minimizing disenfranchisement due to clerical errors or outdated information. Voters are advised to act promptly before the January 1 cutoff to avoid last-minute hassles.
