SALEM: In a surprising early trend, TVK candidate K Sivakumar secured 4,034 votes in the Salem North constituency after the first round of counting, leading over DMK’s R Rajendran by 431 votes. Rajendran, who serves as the tourism minister, polled 3,603 votes.

Other Parties' Performance

The PMK stood in third place with 2,178 votes, while the NTK managed only 374 votes. The initial counting results have given the TVK an unexpected edge over the ruling DMK in this constituency.
