UP Electoral Roll Verification: BLOs to Read Draft at Polling Stations Sunday
UP BLOs to Read Electoral Roll Draft at Polling Stations Sunday

Uttar Pradesh's chief electoral officer, Navdeep Rinwa, has made an important announcement. Booth level officers, known as BLOs, will conduct a public reading of the draft electoral roll this Sunday. The event will take place at all polling stations across the state.

Timing and Purpose of the Public Reading

The reading session is scheduled from 11 am to 4 pm. This initiative serves a clear purpose. It helps voters verify their personal details in the electoral roll. The goal is to ensure that no eligible citizen gets left out of the voting process.

What Voters Will Hear During the Session

During the public reading, BLOs will do more than just read names. They will announce the names of voters who have been excluded from the draft roll. These exclusions happen for specific reasons. Common reasons include death, absence from the area, duplication of entries, migration to another location, or failure to return a verification form.

CEO's Appeal to Voters

Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has urged all voters to participate. He encourages them to visit their respective polling booths on Sunday. Voters should check if their names appear in the draft roll that was published on January 6.

Steps to Take if Your Name is Missing

If a voter finds their name missing, there is a straightforward process to follow. They can submit Form 6 along with a declaration to their BLO. Alternatively, voters can apply online through two official portals: ECINET or voters.eci.gov.in.

Correcting Errors and Seeking Assistance

For voters who spot errors in their details, Form 8 is available for corrections. Additional help is just a phone call away. The Election Commission operates a dedicated helpline at 1950 to assist citizens with any queries or issues.

This public reading exercise underscores the Election Commission's commitment to an inclusive and accurate electoral process. It provides a valuable opportunity for voters to ensure their participation in the upcoming elections.
