The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh has launched a major initiative to clean up the state's voter lists. Navdeep Rinwa announced three special campaign days across the entire state. These dates are January 18, January 31, and February 1, 2026.
Special Assistance for Voters
These days form part of the intensive revision period for electoral rolls. The Election Commission of India has set the claims and objections window from January 6 to February 6, 2026. Eligibility for inclusion will be determined as of January 1, 2026.
On the designated campaign days, every polling station in Uttar Pradesh will operate dedicated assistance facilities. Booth Level Officers will be physically present at their respective booths. They will bring the draft electoral rolls published on January 6.
Documents and Support Available
The officers will also have specific lists for review. These include names of voters marked as 'uncollectable' during verification. Lists will also flag voters recorded as absent, shifted, deceased, or duplicate entries.
All necessary application forms will be readily available for voters. Forms 6 and 8, complete with required declarations, will be provided. Forms 6A and 7 will also be accessible for various corrections and objections.
Help Desks and Political Cooperation
Each polling station will establish a dedicated help desk. The purpose is to guide voters through the form-filling process. This step aims to simplify what can often be a confusing administrative task.
Booth level agents from all recognized political parties have received formal communication. They have been asked to cooperate fully with the revision process. Local representatives and volunteers will also provide assistance according to established norms.
Supervision and Local Flexibility
Senior district officials will take charge of supervising field arrangements. A daily review of the revision progress is now mandatory. District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers must conduct these reviews.
In addition to the three state-wide dates, a fourth campaign day will be scheduled separately. Each District Election Officer will fix this date based on specific local requirements and conditions.
CEO's Appeal to Voters
Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa made a direct appeal to the electorate. He urged all voters in Uttar Pradesh to visit their designated polling booths on the special campaign days. The goal is for citizens to verify their names on the draft rolls.
Voters can submit required applications either online or through the offline facilities. This concerted effort seeks to ensure the electoral rolls are clean, thoroughly updated, and free from errors before the next election cycle.
