Voters in Uttar Pradesh now have a direct and convenient channel to resolve issues with their voter registration details. The Election Commission has launched a new 'Book-a-Call with a BLO' facility, allowing citizens to schedule a telephone appointment with their Booth Level Officer for assistance with the electoral roll.
How the New 'Book-a-Call with a BLO' Service Functions
This initiative is designed to simplify the process for voters seeking help with inclusion of names, deletion of incorrect entries, or correction of personal details in the draft electoral rolls. The service is a key part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise. Voters can access the facility through the official ECI portal — voters.eci.gov.in — or by using the ECINET mobile application.
The process is straightforward. After logging in with a registered mobile number or signing up using an OTP, the voter can book a call by entering their EPIC (Voter ID) number or a reference number. Alternatively, they can manually provide details like their state, district, assembly constituency, and booth number. Once the request is submitted, the concerned Booth Level Officer (BLO) is mandated to contact the voter within 48 hours.
UP Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has urged voters to maximize the use of this facility for any queries related to the SIR and the electoral roll. The final voter list for the state is scheduled for publication on March 6, 2026.
Context: The Draft Rolls and Claims Period
The launch of this service follows the publication of the draft electoral roll for Uttar Pradesh on January 6, 2026. This draft is the result of the Election Commission's second round of the Special Intensive Revision, which led to a significant revision of the voter base.
The draft list retained 12.55 crore voters while excluding a substantial 2.89 crore names. According to officials, 14.06% of deletions were due to voters being declared absent or having shifted, 1.65% were enrolled at multiple places, and 2.99% were deceased electors. Furthermore, from the remaining 12.55 crore voters, 1.04 crore will receive notices as their mapping process is still incomplete.
The period for filing claims and objections is open from January 6 to February 6, 2026. Political parties have appointed Booth-Level Agents (BLAs) to assist the public in submitting Form 6 (for inclusion) and Form 7 (for objections).
Political Parties' Engagement with the Draft Rolls
Data from the UP CEO's daily bulletin reveals early engagement from political parties. So far, national and state parties have submitted 1,334 claims and objections against the draft roll. The ruling BJP has filed the highest number of claims at 1,214, all for the inclusion of names.
The principal opposition, the Samajwadi Party (SP), has filed 82 claims and objections. The Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have submitted 19 claims each, also for inclusion. Notably, no party has filed any objection for the exclusion of voters from the list at this stage.
Other active parties in the state, including the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), CPI(M), and Apna Dal (S), which have deployed their BLAs, are yet to submit a single claim or objection. Separately, 32,290 claims and objections have been received directly from electors since the draft's publication.
The 'Book-a-Call' service aims to bridge the gap between the electorate and the election machinery, ensuring a cleaner and more accurate voter list ahead of future polls.
