UP Voters: Link Mobile to Voter ID for Faster Services, Digital e-EPIC
UP Voters: Link Mobile to Voter ID for Faster Services

Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has made an important announcement for voters across the state. He is urging all eligible citizens to link their mobile numbers with their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC). This simple step promises greater convenience and much faster access to voter-related services.

How to Link Your Mobile Number Online

The entire process is designed to be quick and can be completed from home. Voters need to visit the official Election Commission of India portal at voters.eci.gov.in. The first step involves registering or logging in using a mobile number or email address.

Once logged in, users must select Form 8. This is the standard form used for making corrections and updates to electoral roll entries. The system will then ask if the application is for the voter themselves or for someone else.

After this, voters enter their EPIC number. The portal will immediately display key voter details for verification. These details include the voter's name, state, assembly constituency, part number, serial number, and the name of a relative.

A Crucial Tip for Smooth Linking

Chief Electoral Officer Rinwa shared a vital piece of advice. For the mobile linking process to work without any hiccups, the name on the Voter ID must exactly match the name on the Aadhaar card. If there is any discrepancy or mismatch, voters should not proceed online immediately.

Instead, they must first contact their local Booth Level Officer (BLO). The BLO will help correct the details offline using the physical Form 8. Only after this correction should voters attempt the online mobile linkage.

Major Benefits of Mobile Number Linking

Linking your mobile number to your Voter ID unlocks several significant advantages. For new voters, the benefit is especially clear. Those who include their mobile number while filling out Form 6 for new registration can download their digital e-EPIC card within 10 to 15 days after their name is added to the voter list.

This means they avoid the usual long wait for a physical card to arrive by post. Furthermore, once the number is linked, voters can download or re-download their e-EPIC anytime, from anywhere, as many times as they need.

Instant Access to Critical Voting Information

A linked mobile number also provides instant access to essential election information. Through the official ECINET mobile app or the electoralsearch.eci.gov.in website, voters can quickly find their assigned polling station number and their serial number in the voter list.

They can do this by entering their EPIC details or by simply scanning the QR code printed on their physical Voter ID card. The results appear on screen in a matter of seconds.

Important Reminder for Voters Who Have Relocated

The Election Commission has issued a specific reminder for voters who have shifted to a new location. If your name appears in the draft electoral list but you have moved due to a job posting, marriage, or any other reason, you must act now.

You need to fill up Form 8 to update your address before the final voter list is published on March 6. This ensures you are enrolled to vote at your correct new polling station.

Direct Communication via Social Media

To further aid voters, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer's office has shared the official X handles of district election officers for all districts. Citizens facing any issues with the voter list or seeking information can now directly tag their respective district officer on X.

This allows them to raise concerns or request assistance publicly and transparently. "This initiative aims to make communication faster and more transparent," said CEO Navdeep Rinwa. "It ensures voters receive timely support ahead of the elections."

The complete list of these official X handles is available on the Chief Electoral Officer's own official X account.
