Chennai: Actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) took an early lead as counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu assembly election progressed on Monday. According to the first two rounds of counting, TVK is leading in around 100 constituencies.

The election results are being closely watched across states including Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry. In West Bengal, a tight race is expected as the Trinamool Congress faces the BJP challenge. In Tamil Nadu, the key question is whether Chief Minister M K Stalin can retain power or if the AIADMK will stage a comeback.
Key Candidates and Trends
TVK president Vijay was leading in Perambur and Trichy East constituencies, while Chief Minister M K Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin were trailing in the initial rounds. More than 20 DMK ministers, including HR and CE Minister P K Sekarbabu, were also trailing. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami was leading in his constituency.
As far as TVK was concerned, it was leading in almost all constituencies in Chennai. TVK general N Anand is leading in T Nagar, TVK deputy general secretary Aadhav Arjun is leading in Villivakkam, and TVK spokesman A Rajmohan is leading in the Egmore constituency. NTK chief coordinator Seeman is also trailing in the Karaikudi constituency.
DMK's allies such as DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant and TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai were trailing in Virudhachalam and Sriperumbudur constituencies, respectively.
