Cash Distribution During Polling Leads to Arrest in Ghatshila
In a significant development during the ongoing elections, a youth was apprehended by police for allegedly distributing money among voters in Ghatshila area. The incident has raised serious concerns about electoral malpractices and violation of the model code of conduct.
The accused, identified as Dashmath Tuddu, was caught red-handed outside booth number 129 at Diba Middle School on Tuesday while polling was actively underway. The arrest came following suspicions about his activities in the vicinity of the polling station.
Police Investigation Reveals Widespread Activities
According to police officials, the accused had been actively engaged in distributing money to voters across multiple polling booths throughout Monday night and into the early hours of Tuesday. Dhiraj Kumar Mishra, the in-charge of Dhalbhumgarh police station, confirmed that Tuddu was found in possession of Rs 3,000 in cash at the time of his arrest.
Tuddu, who hails from Jumbani village under Dhalbhumgarh jurisdiction, has been charged with serious violations of the election model code of conduct. The police have initiated a comprehensive investigation to uncover the full extent of the cash distribution network and identify any accomplices involved in the operation.
Political Affiliation Remains Mystery
In a curious development, the arrested youth has refused to disclose which political party he represents or works for. This lack of information has complicated the investigation, though authorities remain determined to trace the source of the money and the political masters behind the cash distribution operation.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections for violation of election norms and procedures. Further probe is currently underway to determine whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger, organized attempt to influence voters through illegal means.
This incident has highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by election authorities in maintaining the integrity of the democratic process and preventing monetary inducements from affecting voter behavior during crucial elections.
