95% Enumeration Forms in Haryana; CEO Rejects Deletion Rumours

CEO Rejects Social Media Claims as Misleading

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Haryana, A Sreenivas, on Wednesday dismissed social media reports alleging large-scale deletion of voters’ names during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026, calling them baseless and misleading. He emphasized that the Election Commission of India aims to enroll every eligible citizen while preventing ineligible persons from being included.

Enumeration Phase Underway

The enumeration phase, running from June 15 to July 14, involves Booth Level Officers (BLOs) distributing enumeration forms to all existing voters. As of 2 pm on July 1, 95.09% of forms had been distributed across the state, and 32.66% had been digitised. Voters who submit the signed form will be included in the preliminary electoral roll without needing additional documents.

Conditions for Deletion

Sreenivas clarified that a voter’s name may be considered for deletion only in specific cases: duplicate registrations, death, permanent migration, untraceable voters, or refusal to sign the enumeration form. Any such action will be taken only after local verification and following the prescribed procedure. He urged citizens to ignore rumours and complete the process within the deadline.

Submission and Claims Process

Voters can submit forms through an adult family member or online. During the claims and objections period from July 21 to August 20, eligible citizens can seek inclusion via Form-6 or corrections via Form-8. The CEO encouraged all eligible voters to participate and ensure their names are on the roll.
