The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated a comprehensive anti-encroachment and safety operation across two wards in the city, aiming to clear land for vital infrastructure and eliminate dangerous structures.
Slum Redevelopment and Road Expansion
As part of the ongoing slum redevelopment project at Ramdevpir no Tekra in the Sardar Patel Stadium Ward, the AMC's Estate Department demolished 168 residential structures, including both temporary and permanent dwellings. Additionally, three religious encroachments were removed during the drive. The clearance was carried out to facilitate the construction of a 30-metre wide road near the local metro station in Ramdevpir Tekra Sector-1, improving connectivity and urban mobility in the area.
Safety Operation in Paldi Ward
In a separate safety-focused initiative in the Paldi ward, the civic body's demolition teams tore down the first floor, portions of the gallery, and the facade of a dilapidated building in the Paldi village area. This action followed official notices previously served to the property owners, highlighting the dangerous condition of the structure. The operation aims to prevent potential accidents and ensure public safety.
The AMC's coordinated efforts underscore its commitment to urban development and hazard mitigation, addressing both infrastructure needs and safety concerns across Ahmedabad.
