The Bengaluru South City Corporation (BSCC) has initiated a crackdown on vendors and shop owners who have been encroaching upon walkways and corridors in the Jayanagar shopping complex. This action follows multiple complaints from the public about blocked pedestrian movement due to illegal encroachments.
Public Complaints Lead to Action
According to officials, the BSCC received numerous grievances from residents and shoppers highlighting that shop owners and vendors had occupied corridors, walkways, and other public spaces within the complex. These encroachments were severely obstructing pedestrian movement and causing inconvenience to the public.
Enforcement Measures
In response, the corporation deployed enforcement teams to clear the encroachments. The teams removed unauthorized structures and seized goods that were placed illegally on walkways. Officials warned that strict action would be taken against repeat offenders, including fines and potential legal proceedings.
The BSCC has urged the public to report any further instances of encroachment to ensure the shopping complex remains accessible and safe for all. This move is part of a broader initiative to maintain public spaces and improve urban infrastructure in Bengaluru.
