Bhojpur District Magistrate Issues Stern Warning Over LPG Irregularities
In response to mounting complaints from both urban and rural consumers in Bhojpur district regarding difficulties in procuring LPG cylinders and issues with commercial LPG usage, District Magistrate Tanai Sultania has taken a firm stand. On Thursday, she issued a clear warning that any form of black-marketing, hoarding, overcharging, or irregularities in the sale and distribution of LPG will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Proactive Measures and Intensive Inspections Launched
To address these concerns, the district administration has deputed officials block-wise across all 14 blocks of Bhojpur. These officers have been tasked with conducting thorough inspections of gas agencies in their respective areas to ensure that consumers do not face any inconvenience. All deputed officers have been directed to carry out joint and intensive inspections of the concerned gas agencies starting from Thursday, with a mandate to review the distribution system comprehensively.
District Magistrate Sultania emphasized that the inspections are part of a broader effort to maintain transparency and efficiency in LPG supply. Officials have been instructed to submit detailed reports to the district administration, enabling a systematic assessment of the situation. Additionally, sub-divisional officers of the district's three sub-divisions have been ordered to maintain continuous monitoring of LPG supply and distribution within their jurisdictions.
Legal Ramifications for Violators
Sultania warned that strict legal action will be taken if any irregularities are detected during these inspections. If any gas distributor or individual is found involved in black-marketing, illegal storage, hoarding, or irregular sale of LPG, they will face severe consequences under sections 3, 6A, and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. This act provides the legal framework for controlling the production, supply, and distribution of essential commodities to ensure fair practices.
The district administration has taken serious note of reports suggesting possible misleading propaganda and black-marketing at some locations, prompting an immediate inquiry. This proactive approach aims to safeguard consumer interests and prevent exploitation, particularly in areas where vulnerable populations might be affected.
