Kanpur: Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Tuesday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 'One District One Medical College' initiative across Uttar Pradesh has effectively replaced the Samajwadi Party (SP) regime's 'One District One Mafia Raj'. Addressing the concluding session of a party workers' training workshop at the BJP's Hamirpur unit, Pathak highlighted the transformative healthcare developments under the current state government.
Medical Colleges and Ayushman Bharat
Pathak stated that 81 medical colleges in the state are now functioning at full capacity, thanks to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which he described as the world's largest healthcare scheme. He contrasted this with a time in Uttar Pradesh when people had to sell their houses and land to afford treatment for serious illnesses. He further noted that more than 5.5 crore Ayushman cards have been issued in the state, providing free treatment to beneficiaries.
Social Welfare Schemes
The Deputy CM elaborated on various central schemes benefiting all eligible sections of society. These include the PM Suraksha Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, PM Matru Vandana Yojana, and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. He emphasized that these schemes have extended financial security and support to millions.
Ujjwala Scheme and Housing
Pathak recalled that during the Congress government, a recommendation from an MLA or MP was required to obtain a gas connection. In contrast, the current Prime Minister has benefited rural mothers through the Ujjwala scheme, providing free LPG connections. He also highlighted the housing scheme, stating that a permanent roof has been provided to the poor, and asserted that the scheme will continue until even one person remains deprived of housing.
Swachh Bharat Mission
Referring to the Swachh Bharat Mission, Pathak noted that it was a slogan of Mahatma Gandhi and alleged that the Congress party had disregarded Gandhi's principles. He credited the BJP-led government for implementing the mission effectively.
