BMC Launches Major Demolition Drive in Mumbai's Western Suburbs
In a significant crackdown on unauthorized constructions, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished a total of 60 illegal structures in the Mahavir Nagar areas of Borivali (West) and Kandivali (West) on Friday, February 20. The operation was spearheaded by the civic 'R/Central' ward, targeting 25 illegal buildings and 35 unauthorized stalls that had been erected without proper permits.
Massive Joint Operation Involving Multiple Departments
The demolition drive was a coordinated effort involving officers and staff from several key BMC departments. Personnel from the Vigilance, Encroachment Removal, Building and Factories, and Solid Waste Management departments worked together to execute the operation efficiently. Substantial resources were deployed to carry out the task. Approximately 50 officers were on the ground, supported by 3 JCB machines and 5 dumpers to handle the debris.
