The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has commenced repair work on roads that were dug up for pipeline installation across Bengaluru. The initiative aims to restore damaged stretches and alleviate traffic disruptions caused by prolonged excavation.
Scope of Restoration Work
BWSSB officials stated that the repair covers major arterial roads and residential areas where pipeline projects had left trenches and loose debris. The board has pledged to remove construction materials and reopen closed lanes to vehicular movement. According to a BWSSB spokesperson, the restoration is being prioritized in high-traffic zones to minimize inconvenience to commuters.
The board has deployed multiple teams to expedite the process, with a focus on completing repairs before the onset of the monsoon season. Residents have long complained about potholes and uneven surfaces resulting from incomplete pipeline work.
Impact on Commuters
Traffic congestion has been a significant issue in areas like Koramangala, Indiranagar, and Whitefield, where pipeline projects were underway. The repair work is expected to bring relief to daily commuters who faced delays and detours. A local resident said, "We hope the BWSSB completes the work quickly and ensures roads are safe for driving."
Future Pipeline Projects
The BWSSB is also planning to coordinate with other utility agencies to avoid repeated digging of the same roads. The board aims to adopt a synchronized approach for laying water, sewage, and telecom cables to reduce future disruptions. Officials assured that road restoration will be an integral part of all upcoming pipeline contracts.
