Thiruvananthapuram: The self-enumeration process for Census 2027 was formally launched in the district on Tuesday, with noted writer George Onakkoor becoming one of the first participants to complete the exercise.
The official launch was held at Onakkoor’s residence in Nalanchira in the presence of district collector Anu Kumari, additional district magistrate Nirmal Kumar G and officials of revenue and census departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Onakkoor urged citizens to actively participate in the census process, stressing that accurate census data is essential for the proper planning and development of the country.
The self-enumeration facility allows residents to submit their census details independently using mobile phones and other digital devices. District collector, playback singer G Venugopal and actor Priyanka Nair also completed the self-enumeration process on the first day.
The collector appealed to all residents of the district to complete the self-enumeration process in the coming days and contribute to the successful conduct of the house-listing phase of Census 2027. Public can submit their details through the self-enumeration portal until June 30. The process can be completed through the Census self-enumeration website. The first phase of data collection comprises 34 questions.
After completing registration on the portal, participants will receive an 11-digit Self-Enumeration Identification Number (SEID), which should be retained carefully. The SEID must be provided to census officials when they visit households during the enumeration process.
