In a significant move to tackle the persistent traffic congestion in Jharkhand's capital, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has given its formal nod to two crucial infrastructure projects for Ranchi. The approval, announced by local MP Sanjay Seth, targets two major choke points on the busy National Highway-33.
Two Key Projects Get the Green Light
Ranchi MP and Union Minister of State Sanjay Seth made the announcement on Friday, revealing that his persistent proposals have finally been accepted by the central government. The two approved projects include the construction of an overbridge near Rampur Chowk on the outskirts of Ranchi and an underground tunnel near Vikas Chowk in Irba, Ormanjhi. This section falls on the Ranchi-Hazaribag stretch of NH-33.
Seth confirmed that he has received official communications stating that the Government of India has approved the projects and the tender process has already been initiated. This marks a critical step towards turning these plans into reality.
Addressing Daily Commuter Nightmares
Explaining the necessity of these projects, the MP highlighted the severe daily gridlock faced by commuters. "At both these locations, there is a major traffic problem on the national highway due to the movement of scores of vehicles daily," Seth stated. He further emphasized the safety concerns, noting that the areas constantly carry a high risk of accidents.
Seth shared that he had been pushing for these solutions for several months, with the primary aim of relieving the hardship faced by daily travelers. The projects are envisioned as long-term solutions to the growing traffic pressures in the capital district, particularly on its outer circles.
Smoother and Safer Journeys Ahead
The completion of the overbridge and the underground tunnel is expected to bring transformative change. Once ready, these structures will ensure smooth vehicular movement and significantly reduce the risk of accidents at these critical junctions. The projects represent a focused effort by the Centre to upgrade infrastructure in response to the urban expansion and increasing vehicular load in Ranchi.
This development is likely to be welcomed by thousands of residents, motorists, and commercial vehicle operators who navigate these congested points every day, promising a future of safer and more efficient travel on NH-33.
