Chandigarh Administrator Commits to Easing Business Regulations for a More Trader-Friendly Environment

UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has made a significant pledge to the trading community of Chandigarh, promising to simplify rules and create a more business-friendly atmosphere in the city. Speaking at the founder's day celebrations organized by the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal in Sector 37 on Sunday, Kataria emphasized the administration's dedication to supporting local businesses and fostering economic growth.

Addressing Challenges and Recognizing Trader Contributions

During his address, Kataria acknowledged the vital role traders play in the nation's development, praising their efforts in driving progress. He highlighted the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as a historical step that has not only significantly boosted government revenue but also streamlined business operations for traders, making compliance easier and more efficient.

However, Kataria admitted that certain existing rules have created difficulties for businesses in Chandigarh, leading to a shift of commercial activities to neighboring areas like Panchkula and Mohali. He explained that the administration faces some constraints due to directives from the Centre and rulings from the Supreme Court, but assured that efforts are underway to find solutions and provide relief to all sections of society.

Focus on Preserving Chandigarh's Unique Character

The Governor stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure that Chandigarh does not become a city dominated by retired individuals. He called for a balanced approach that protects the city's unique character while promoting a vibrant business environment. This includes working together to implement policies that attract and retain businesses, thereby maintaining the city's dynamic and progressive nature.

Bihar Foundation Day Celebrations Highlight Cultural Heritage

In a separate event, Kataria, accompanied by his wife Anita Kataria, presided over the Bihar Foundation Day celebrations at Punjab Lok Bhavan. He extended his greetings to the people of Bihar, wishing them continued progress and highlighting the state's rich historical, cultural, and intellectual heritage. Kataria noted Bihar's significant contributions to education, philosophy, governance, and social thought, as well as its role as a meeting point for major religions such as Buddhism, Jainism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Hinduism.

The celebration featured engaging cultural presentations that showcased Bihar's diverse traditions, including vibrant folk performances like Jhijhiya, Jat Jatin, and Chhatt Puja. These performances captivated the audience and highlighted the state's cultural richness. Additionally, a video message from the Governor of Bihar and a documentary film on the state were screened, further emphasizing its heritage.

Kataria also highlighted the strong bond between Bihar and Punjab, strengthened by shared spiritual heritage. He pointed to Takht Sri Patna Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, as a symbol of this lasting connection, rooted in values of courage, devotion, and service.
