Chandigarh: Chief secretary H Rajesh Prasad on Monday reviewed the performance of the industries department for the fiscal year 2025-26, directing officials to take time-bound steps to enhance the ease of doing business and accelerate key initiatives in the Union Territory.
Support for MSMEs
During the meeting, officials informed that the department is currently supporting over 65,000 Udyam-registered micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Chandigarh through various policy and facilitation measures aimed at strengthening the industrial ecosystem.
Chandigarh Startup Policy, 2025
Emphasizing faster execution, Prasad ordered the immediate rollout of the Chandigarh Startup Policy, 2025. He set a target to recognize 150 startups within the next three months. Additionally, he directed the department to expedite the empanelment of incubators and operationalize the disbursal of startup grants at the earliest possible date.
Delayed Payment Disputes
Reviewing the status of delayed payment disputes under the Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council (MSEFC), the chief secretary instructed officials to speed up the disposal of pending cases and ensure timely grievance redressal. Officials reported that 105 cases have been resolved so far in the current financial year.
The meeting underscored the administration's commitment to creating a business-friendly environment in Chandigarh by streamlining processes and addressing bottlenecks promptly.
