Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Launches Major Anti-Encroachment Operation in Manimajra
In a decisive move to uphold civic order, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation executed a rigorous anti-encroachment drive in Manimajra, specifically targeting Sector 13. This initiative aims to ensure strict enforcement of municipal regulations and liberate public spaces from unauthorised commercial activities that disrupt urban harmony.
Swift Action Against Illegal Vehicle Repairs in Public Parking
During the enforcement operation, officials discovered multiple vehicles undergoing illegal repairs within the parking area of Fun Republic. This misuse of public parking space not only caused obstructions but also violated civic norms designed for community benefit. In response, the enforcement team took immediate action by impounding the vehicles and equipment involved in these unauthorised commercial operations.
Extensive Seizures and Penalties Issued to Violators
The drive resulted in significant enforcement measures, including the issuance of 53 challans against individuals flouting municipal laws. A wide array of vehicles and machinery was confiscated to deter future violations. The impounded items comprised:
- Four buses and seven recovery vans
- Cranes, including a large hydra crane
- 25 cars, along with jacks and rubber machines used by roadside mechanics
Additionally, an unauthorised parked bus, a recovery van, a crane, and several other vehicles were taken into custody for breaching municipal standards, highlighting the comprehensive scope of the operation.
Leadership and Commitment to Civic Discipline
This anti-encroachment drive was conducted under the directives of Joint MC Commissioner Himanshu Gupta and supervised by Enforcement Superintendent Sunil Dutt. Senior officials have reaffirmed their dedication to taking stringent action against encroachments and illegal commercial activities that occupy public spaces. The Municipal Corporation remains steadfast in its mission to maintain order, facilitate smooth traffic flow, and protect designated public parking areas from misuse.
Looking ahead, such enforcement drives are set to be intensified in the coming days to ensure full compliance with municipal laws and foster a culture of civic discipline across Chandigarh. This proactive approach underscores the city's commitment to sustainable urban management and the well-being of its residents.
