Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation's (MC) agenda branch has issued a directive to all departments to urgently submit their proposal items, following the Mayor's decision to convene the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) meeting on June 24 and the General House meeting on June 29.
"Though the agenda items are yet to start coming, the majority of the agenda items are likely to be related to the works of the engineering department of the authority, but some policy matters may also come for the decision and subsequent approval of the members. Since both of these monthly meetings could not be convened in May last year, a good number of agenda items are expected to come for discussion this month," civic sources said.
A backlog of items is expected to dominate both sessions because neither meeting could be convened during May. Furthermore, because the civic body's standard specialised sub-committees have not yet been formed, the F&CC will temporarily absorb and review almost all development proposals that would normally be distributed among those smaller panels.
Structurally, the agenda branch is responsible for collecting, compiling, and finalising all departmental proposals into official meeting documents. The branch is also mandated to dispatch these compiled agendas to all municipal councillors and administrative officers well in advance of the scheduled session dates.
