Schools received strict instructions to adhere to the reduce, reuse, recycle principle. This RRR approach falls under the Solid Waste Management Rules. The commissioner specifically directed schools to process horticulture waste on their own premises. They must complete all necessary arrangements within set deadlines.
Proper handling and disposal of garden waste emerged as a critical point. The emphasis here is on preventing any potential environmental hazards. Negligence in this area could lead to serious consequences.
Swachh School Award and Awareness Drives
Officials announced the implementation of the Swachh School Award. This recognition will cover various categories. Schools interested in participating must submit their applications through a prescribed online form.
Weekly awareness programmes become compulsory for all institutions. These include Swachhta Doot activities designed to promote cleanliness. The goal is to instill a strong sense of environmental responsibility among students from a young age.
Schools also received encouragement to organize educational visits. A one-day trip to waste processing facilities can provide practical exposure. Suggested sites include ICCC, PCCC, MRF, and other authorized plants.
Fire Safety Compliance Gets Special Attention
The meeting placed special focus on fire safety within school premises. Compliance here is non-negotiable. Every school must obtain and maintain a valid fire safety No Objection Certificate.
Conducting live fire safety demonstrations becomes a requirement. Schools need to regularly inspect all firefighting equipment. Electrical systems also demand frequent checks to prevent any mishaps.
