Chhattisgarh SDG 2.0: 343 Indicators, Bastar Anjor Launched

Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, unveiled the state's Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2.0 framework and launched the 'Bastar Anjor' initiative, aiming to drive outcome-based development across the region.

Expanded Monitoring Framework

The SDG 2.0 framework significantly expands the monitoring system to include 343 state-level indicators and 99 district-level indicators, up from the previous version. This comprehensive set of metrics will enable more granular tracking of progress towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, the new framework is designed to ensure that development efforts are measurable and results-oriented, with a focus on achieving tangible outcomes for citizens.

Bastar Anjor Initiative

Alongside the SDG framework, the 'Bastar Anjor' initiative was launched specifically for the Bastar region, which has historically faced developmental challenges. The initiative aims to accelerate progress in key areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and livelihood generation.

"Bastar Anjor will bring a focused and outcome-driven approach to development in the region," said Shri Vishnu Deo Sai during the launch event. "We are committed to ensuring that every rupee spent translates into visible improvements in the lives of our people."

Key Features of SDG 2.0

The SDG 2.0 framework incorporates real-time data collection and analysis mechanisms, enabling policymakers to make informed decisions. It also includes a dashboard for public access to track progress on various indicators.

District administrations will be responsible for monitoring the 99 district-level indicators, which cover areas like poverty reduction, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, and economic growth.

The framework aligns with the national SDG targets set by NITI Aayog and aims to position Chhattisgarh among the leading states in achieving the 2030 Agenda.

Impact on Development

Officials believe that the expanded indicator set will help identify gaps and bottlenecks at the local level, allowing for targeted interventions. The Bastar Anjor initiative is expected to serve as a model for other regions in the state.

"This is a significant step towards data-driven governance and ensuring that no one is left behind," added a senior government official.
