Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal on Thursday chaired a review meeting at the District Administrative Complex and issued a directive to all concerned departments to accelerate the pace of Smart City projects in Sultanpur Lodhi. Emphasizing the need for war-footing execution, the DC stressed that timely completion of these projects is non-negotiable.
Review Meeting Highlights
During the meeting, the DC assessed the progress of various infrastructure and development undertakings under the Smart City initiative. He instructed officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), Municipal Council, Irrigation Department, and Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board to maintain close inter-departmental coordination. A key outcome was the mandate to submit daily progress reports until all pending works are finished.
Project Status and Targets
According to officials, 11 Smart City projects have already been completed. Currently, nine projects are under execution, and two projects are at the tendering stage. The DC directed the departments to closely monitor each project and ensure regular field inspections so that the remaining works are completed within the prescribed timeframe.
Focus on Quality and Monsoon Preparedness
The DC stated that the ongoing projects are aimed at enhancing civic infrastructure, improving public amenities, and providing better facilities to residents. He directed all executing agencies to adhere strictly to quality standards and complete the works within stipulated timelines without any compromise. Additionally, he instructed the Drainage Department to ensure timely cleaning of drains to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season.
Accountability and Coordination
Bansal also instructed officials to immediately resolve any inter-departmental issues or bottlenecks affecting the pace of work. He warned that any unnecessary delay or negligence would be viewed seriously. The directive underscores the district administration's commitment to delivering urban development projects efficiently.
