The department is now moving forward with the appointment of a specialized consultant to draft a detailed and structured five-year upkeep plan for this landmark structure.

The Signature Bridge, originally constructed by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) at a cost of Rs 1,518.3 crore, was initially maintained by the tourism body for a period of three years following its completion. However, after this maintenance period concluded, DTTDC encountered substantial financial constraints that hindered its ability to continue upkeep operations. Consequently, officials confirmed the decision to transfer maintenance responsibilities to the PWD, which possesses extensive experience in managing road repairs and related infrastructure projects throughout the capital city.
