Deputy CM Choudhary Reviews Patna Development Schemes

Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary on Saturday chaired the District Programme Implementation Committee meeting to review the progress of various development and welfare schemes. This was the first such meeting since the formation of the new government under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.

Accountability and Coordination Stressed

Emphasizing accountability, Choudhary stated, “All stakeholders must remain alert and prompt to achieving the goal of ‘Beautiful Patna’.” He stressed the need for close coordination and regular dialogue between public representatives and administrative officials to address public grievances and expedite development works.

Referring to the ‘Sahyog shivirs’ organized on the first and third Tuesdays of every month under the Saat Nischay-3 initiative, he directed officials to ensure that all applications received at the camps are disposed of within 30 days.

Disaster Management Preparedness

District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S M presented the district’s preparedness for floods and droughts. He informed the meeting that 1.5 lakh beneficiaries have been registered on the disaster compensation portal, while Aadhaar verification has been completed for 1.4 lakh of them.

To strengthen disaster management, the district has signed agreements with 219 registered boat owners, identified 120 shelter sites, deployed 204 trained divers, and positioned eight NDRF and six SDRF teams at strategic locations.

Infrastructure Projects Review

Reviewing infrastructure projects, officials informed the committee that 381 of the 417 roads and bridges sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana have been completed. Similarly, 607 projects under the Chief Minister Gram Sampark Yojana and 203 projects funded by NABARD have been completed.

Under the CM Area Development Scheme, 7,019 of the 7,559 projects approved between 2020-21 and 2026-27 have been completed, while 94 schemes were cancelled and 446 remain under implementation. Additionally, 1,276 projects have been completed under the MPs’ Local Area Development funds of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members.

Choudhary directed officials to resolve all pending NOC issues within a week and keep public representatives informed about project progress.

Rural and Housing Achievements

The committee was also informed that 125 playgrounds have been developed under MGNREGA. Under the Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan, door-to-door collection of solid and liquid waste has achieved 100% coverage across 4,147 units, while waste processing units have been established in 230 gram panchayats.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) has achieved a completion rate of 98.76%, while the CM Rural Housing Assistance Scheme has recorded 95% completion. In the health sector, 98% of families in the district have been covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, with more than 6.33 lakh beneficiaries receiving treatment.

Commitment to Compliance

The meeting concluded with the DM assuring that a compliance report on suggestions made by public representatives would be submitted before the next session. Following the review meeting, Choudhary also chaired meetings of the district citizen council and the district monitoring committee to discuss community mobilization during disasters and finalize seasonal emergency preparedness measures.
