Punjab Government Enforces Digital Life Certificate Submission for Pensioners
In a significant step to enhance transparency and streamline pension processes, the Punjab Government has issued a mandatory directive for all pensioners to submit their Digital Life Certificate, commonly known as Jeevan Pramaan. District Treasury Officer Jatinder Kumar has announced that this digital verification must be completed by the strict deadline of March 31, 2026, to ensure uninterrupted pension disbursement.
Transition from Manual to Digital Verification
Addressing the current practices, the District Treasury Officer highlighted that many pensioners are still relying on manual life certificates submitted through banks. He emphasized that these traditional methods will no longer be accepted under the new system. The shift to digital certification is designed to reduce paperwork, minimize errors, and provide a more efficient verification process for retired employees across the district.
Convenient Submission Channels for Pensioners
To facilitate this transition, the Punjab Government has introduced multiple accessible channels for submitting the Digital Life Certificate. Pensioners can choose from the following options:
- Visit the nearest treasury office for in-person assistance.
- Go to their respective bank branches where staff can help with the process.
- Utilize Seva Kendras, which offer government services at centralized locations.
Additionally, a special doorstep service has been launched under the 'Ghar Baithe Sewa' initiative. This allows pensioners to complete the verification from their homes by simply calling the helpline number 1076. This service aims to cater to elderly or mobility-challenged individuals, ensuring no one is left behind in the digital shift.
Urgent Appeal to Meet the Deadline
The District Treasury Officer has made a heartfelt appeal to all pensioners in the district, urging them to act promptly and submit their Digital Life Certificate before the March 31, 2026 deadline.
