Dr Sujata Sethi Takes Over as Medical Superintendent at PGIMS Rohtak
Dr Sujata Sethi, Senior Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak, has been assigned the additional charge of Medical Superintendent of the institute. This appointment follows the retirement of Dr Kundan Mittal, Head of the Department of Paediatrics and former Medical Superintendent, who superannuated on Tuesday after reaching the age of 65 years.
Dr H.K. Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, confirmed the development. PGIMS Rohtak is Haryana's premier medical institute, serving over 8,000 patients daily at its OPD block from various regions.
Background of the Appointment
Dr Kundan Mittal's retirement marked the end of his tenure as both Head of Paediatrics and Medical Superintendent. The additional charge given to Dr Sujata Sethi ensures continuity in administrative leadership at the institute. Dr Sethi brings extensive experience from her role as a senior professor and department head in psychiatry.
PGIMS Rohtak is a major healthcare hub in Haryana, catering to a large patient population. The daily OPD footfall of over 8,000 underscores the institute's critical role in regional healthcare delivery.
Impact on PGIMS Operations
The transition in leadership is expected to maintain smooth operations at the institute. Dr Sethi's dual role as Medical Superintendent and Head of Psychiatry will require balancing clinical and administrative responsibilities. The university administration has expressed confidence in her ability to manage these duties effectively.
According to Dr Aggarwal, the appointment was made to ensure uninterrupted administrative functioning at PGIMS. The institute continues to provide medical services to a large number of patients from Haryana and neighboring states.
