Chamarajanagar Launches 'Get e-Khata from Home' for All Urban Areas
e-Khata from Home Launched in Chamarajanagar District

The Karnataka government has taken a significant step towards digital governance in Chamarajanagar district. A new campaign, 'Get e-Khata from Home,' has been officially launched across all Urban Local Body (ULB) jurisdictions in the district. This initiative allows citizens to obtain their digital property records, or e-Khata, entirely from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices.

Where is the Service Available?

This citizen-centric facility has been extended to the limits of five key urban areas within the district. The Chamarajanagar City Municipal Council, Kollegala City Municipal Council, and Gundlupete Town Municipal Council are covered. Additionally, the town panchayats of Yelandur and Hanur are also included in this digital drive. This wide coverage ensures that a large number of urban property owners can benefit from the streamlined process.

How Does the e-Khata Process Work?

The process is designed to be simple, transparent, and user-friendly. Authorities have first published a draft e-Khata based on existing data from the Property Treasury (Aasthi Kanaja). This draft is open for public viewing on the dedicated portal.

If citizens spot any discrepancies in their draft record, they can directly enter corrected or additional details into the e-Aasthi software. The respective Urban Local Body will then verify the submitted information. Once approved, the final, legally valid e-Khata can be downloaded and received by the applicant without leaving home.

Documents Required and Additional Support

To apply for the e-Khata online, applicants need to submit several documents digitally. The required list includes:

  • Photograph and Aadhaar card of the property owner.
  • Property tax SAS challan number.
  • Property purchase or registered deed number (electronically retrieved via Kaveri software).
  • Electricity RR number (not mandatory for vacant sites).
  • A photograph of the property.
  • Encumbrance Certificate (EC) in Form 15 or 16.
  • Any other relevant documents related to the property.

The service promises delivery within a prescribed time frame. For those who need assistance, the service is also accessible at Karnataka One (K1) Centres, where staff can help citizens use the designated software to complete their application.

Benefits and Official Contacts

The introduction of e-Khata brings multiple advantages. Most notably, property owners can now conveniently pay their property tax online using the digital record. This initiative is part of the state government's broader push for e-governance and reducing bureaucratic hurdles for the public.
