Berhampur: Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharati, along with officials from the Election Commission of India, conducted a review of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Ganjam district at Gopalpur.
Progress of SIR Exercise
Ganjam District Collector Keerthi Vassan V briefed the visiting officials on the status of the exercise. Before the commencement of the SIR, the district had a total of 29,99,782 voters across 13 assembly constituencies. Booth-level officers (BLOs) have distributed enumeration forms to 99.86% of voters so far. As many as 59.36% of the forms have been digitized after verification by BLOs, sources confirmed.
Deployment and Public Cooperation
A total of 3,124 BLOs and 311 BLO supervisors have been deployed for the exercise. The collector stated that the district has received good cooperation from the public. “We have apprised our progress to the deputy election commissioner in the review,” he said.
Bharati also interacted with BLOs and supervisors, seeking feedback on ground-level challenges and possible solutions. Expressing satisfaction over the progress, he directed officials to complete the process well before the deadline and ensure that no eligible voter is left out. While the official deadline for distribution and submission of forms is June 28, the collector noted that the administration is striving to complete the process ahead of schedule with public support.
Review Meeting Details
Several district-level officers and Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sushant Kumar Mishra were present during the review. Bharati also held a state-level review of the SIR with district collectors in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
